About Dan Crotta
DAN CROTTA is a life-long artist who began his study in oils as a student in college. At the age of 23 he was fortunate to be accepted as one of eight students at the time for study under the Russian Master Impressionist painter Sergei Bongart (1918-1985). In Bongart's Santa Monica studio Dan learned the subtleties of color, composition, and light. "Even today as I paint, I can hear Sergei's instructional voice behind me."
Drawing from his diverse lifetime experiences, Dan adds richness and depth to every one of his works. As a first generation immigrant he grew up appreciating the New England seasons, and incorporates his love of the outdoors in most of his paintings.
Dan moved west to finish his BA in Biology from the University of California after which he worked with environmental consulting firms. He became (and still is) a member of the California Bar and was a litigation attorney for 17 years. Then for 20 years, he was a Financial Advisor with a major Wall Street firm. Aside from delivering yachts from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas, Dan studied with Maharishi and became a teacher of Transcendental Meditation.
